NON-PROFIT: FRIENDS OF JEFFERSON PARK, INC

Purpose
The PURPOSE of the Friends of Jefferson Park, Inc  is to preserve and promote the historic integrity of the neighborhood and to ensure the quality of life of the residents.

History
The Friends of Jefferson Park, Inc was established as a non-profit to assist the Neighborhood Association to achieve historic status. Having a non-profit status allowed the neighborhood to collect tax deductible donations to support neighborhood activities. The projects listed were made possible by the generous donations of neighbors and the community.  Additionally, countless hours of volunteer work organized and implemented fundraisers which included home tours, yard sales, and suppers.
  • Historic Status of the Neighborhood – the initial project for the non-profit was to pay back the city $38,000 for the cost of the consultant to submit Jefferson park as an Historic district. That was accomplished in 2013 when Jefferson Park became Tucson's 31st historic district. The debt was retired in 2015.
  • Street Signs to Designate our Historic Neighborhood Status – The second major project was to work with the neighbors to create and manufacture  46 signs that designate the historic status of the neighborhood. Total cost of that project $5000 and was completed in 2015
The Friends of Jefferson Park, Inc. (Friends) was established in 2008 as a 501c3 corporation, by a group of residents who wanted to create a non-profit entity to address many of the needs of the Jefferson Park Neighborhood. The Friends work in partnership with the Jefferson Park Neighborhood Association.

Membership: The membership is open to all interested persons of the neighborhood and persons of the general public who wish to participate in furthering the goals of this organization.
