Jefferson Park School, established in 1945 was scheduled to be sold by the TUSD in 2006. Many neighborhood children had attended the school for years. it was a central focus of the neighborhood.  Good schools are contribute to good neighborhoods.   The neighborhood lobbied TUSD to lease the site to another school. Fortunately, the International School of Tucson needed larger accomodations. Their multi-cultural, multi-lingual, high academic standards  curriculum was a perfect fit for this university neighborhood.  It continues to serve the neighborhood with a nursery/toddler program as well as K-6 age students. The school has a "proximity" discount of 10% for neighborhood residents.
