Annual meeting Jan 15, 2024
Minutes -Friends of Jefferson Park, Inc. Date: January 15, 2024 – 5:30p.m. Joan D., home.
Present: Joan D., Kat M., Joanne O., Alan H., Liz B.
Absent: (Excused)-Trish G.; Colleen N.
Minutes: Minutes for January 2023 reviewed. Motion for approval by Joanne and seconded by Liz. Approved. Minutes for March 2023 reviewed. Motion for approval by Joanne and seconded by Liz. Approved without objection.
Treasurer’s Report: Financials reviewed including the 125 year celebration, plant sale proceeds etc. Noted plant sale proceeds processed through Friend’s Zelle account then transferred to JPNA. Joan advises the Friend’s paypal account was hacked and monies were drafted out of checking account. Joan noticed and after interactions with bank/paypal personnel, monies were retrieved. The current balance in non-profit checking account is $6658.15 correction $9158.15. Of this balance $2500 remains restricted. Further discussions on this to clarify.
Old Business: Restricted donation of $2500 discussed generally. The monies will be allowed to be used for signage. It is noted Jason Butler who fabricated the original sign at First and Grant, can help with both fabrication and installation. Zac M. will be unable to assist with further installation efforts. Joan will look into current costs for fabrication and installation. Much gratitude for Alan H., for his generous donation.
New Business: Election of officers for 2024 term - Joanne O., and Liz B., re-elected as President and Secretary unanimously.
Contact information for both JPNA and Friend’s board was reviewed and updated.
Projects:
History Books. It is noted, all of the history books available for sale at the 125 year celebration were sold! A motion to purchase 50 more books to sell made by Joanne and seconded by Liz. Approved. It is noted there are some corrections which need to be made prior to order and purchase of books.
Gourds: Friends will be painting additional gourds for sale at the spring plant sale. Joan requests approval to purchase more gourds to sell ($100-$150 range) . Joanne makes motion to approve and seconded by Kat.
Business Solicitations for income generation.
Joan discusses the idea of soliciting businesses to request contributions for advertising in newsletter. Cited Garden District example. Project to be further developed and potential businesses such as Barrio Bread (local bakery) which may be approached discussed. A solicitation letter may need to be developed to go out.
