| Welcome! |

Hello Jefferson Park Neighbors! As your newly elected JPNA president, I take the opportunity to tell you how happy and proud I am to be part of this community! I have lived in this special neighborhood for almost twenty years. In that time, I’ve seen the ravages of incompatible development, the increase in crime, and the unraveling of a sense of community begin to take hold. I can’t help but believe these things are interrelated. We must work together as a cohesive group to return to a time when the words “community” and “neighborhood” really meant something. We have many projects in place already such as the NPZ, the Historic Designation, and the much anticipated spring garden tour which will pave our way to the future. Many of you are involved, but we need more help! In the upcoming weeks, I plan on making personal door-to-door invitations to join me and you new board members at a series of neighborhood potlucks. These will be an opportunity to informally get to know each other and talk about our community concerns. Notices will be in the newsletter…be on the lookout! You are all welcome! All residents and property owners are further welcome to attend the monthly assocation board meetings held the 4th Wednesday of each month at our Ward III office. Before I close, I wish to sincerely thank Bob Schlanger and Dyer Lytle for their service on the board. Their commitment to neighborhood issues is nothing short of inspiring. We won’t let them get too far away, though, since they’ll be back in other board positions. Finally, I truly believe that participation is what will save Jefferson Park. Together, we can move our neighborhood forward as a community committed to its residents and way of life. Don’t sit back and lament. Play a part and let’s make it happen! Sincerely, Elizabeth M.
